It’s been an amazing week at HxGN LIVE, my first as president of Hexagon PPM. I’ve attended the conference in the past, but I learned that it’s very different being under the spotlight presenting a keynote rather than sitting in the audience, listening to a keynote!
From the stage, I said that since spending so much time in the United States (PPM is headquartered in Huntsville, Alabama), I’ve had to learn to refer to “football” as “soccer.” I follow my native Swedish National team which – after years and years of being successful – is now enduring some hard times. They’ve got some great players, but they aren’t winning as much as they once did.
That’s similar to PPM, which has amazing employees and great customers, but because we’ve focused on the oil and gas industry for half of our client base, we’ve had a tough few years.
I want to put PPM back in the position to win … and win big.
Oil and gas markets have fluctuated wildly over the past 20 or 30 years. It’s what they do. But the industry hasn’t worked to stabilize the situation by leveraging technology. They haven’t sought and adopted methods of repeatability and standardization. The crisis isn’t the price of a barrel of oil.
The crisis is inertia.
Other industries can also benefit from discovering untapped potential, and we want to help them do that. Together we can create a digitally exact facility, from design through construction to operations and maintenance, all the way through to a more seamless handover.
By achieving automation, integration and interoperability with PPM digital asset and project control solutions across the project life cycle, our clients stand to save tens of millions of dollars, depending on the project’s size.
The functionality is there. The capability is there. Let’s use it!
HxGN LIVE gave me the opportunity this week to meet with dozens of clients who have shared their concerns and what they need from us to take their success to the next level. I am confident that we will create stronger partnerships, and at HxGN LIVE 2018, we can discuss the progress that’s been made.
