The HxGN LIVE annual conference presents an opportunity for industry think tanks, solution providers, partners, technology users and trendsetters to come together to showcase, learn and direct the future of technology. I am participating in the conference for the first time and attending the Geospatial track meetings, trainings and keynote sessions.
I’m a relative novice to geospatial technology, and nothing could prepare me enough for the amazing experience the conference offers. The keynote address by Hexagon President and CEO Ola Rollén set the tone for a purpose-driven understanding of the vital components of a technology-driven society. In his speech, he addressed the missing link in understanding the narrative of technological advancement. Aptly themed “Limitless,” the speech addressed the state of technology, where billions of data are generated and stored without being transformed into actionable intelligence. In the Geospatial track keynote, Hexagon Geospatial President Mladen Stojic discussed “escaping the flatlands”– about how we can model geospatial information, envision and embrace geospatial intelligence by harnessing the power of data to attain situational awareness and deliver actionable intelligence. This guides the key element of SMART cities, which is to improve the quality of life. Simply AMAZING stuff.
The most interesting learning from my experience has been the training sessions that provide key insights into developments at Hexagon, as well as being able to meet and talk to the partners and regional representatives. Participating in the M.appathon also served to show that only you can limit your potential and that of the solutions developed for the problems of this world.
To cap all this, the city of Las Vegas provides the ultimate destination experience. Personally, it took over 27 long hours of flight travel, but it is worth every moment. The people and food experience are reason enough to do this all over again next year.
