Attendees from all over the world joined us for a week of learning, networking, and inspiration at HxGN LIVE 2018!
Day 1 started with hands-on training led by our experts. We offered classes for both novice-level users and more experienced users. Hands-on training was followed by the opening keynote from Hexagon President and CEO Ola Rollén. Ola inspired the audience to close the gap between reality and possibility by taking advantage of the technological capabilities available in their industry. The fun continued with Leap into the Night, held in The Zone, where attendees networked amidst demonstrations of Hexagon technology, a silent disco, BMX bikers on a halfpipe, and a live 80’s cover band.
Day 2 of the conference provided attendees with more hands-on training as well as breakout sessions covering a variety of topics from peers’ success stories in creating innovative, smart solutions to revolutionary updates highlighted in each of our three product portfolios.
After the breakout sessions, Hexagon Geospatial President Mladen Stojic presented his Geospatial Track keynote, “Bridging the Divide – Smart Digital Reality.” The keynote highlighted the benefits of bridging the divide between location and intelligence by unlocking the potential of 5D insight. Mladen, also joined by Chief Sales Officer, Christoph de Preter, showed how Hexagon Geospatial, with the recent inclusion of the Luciad portfolio, is transforming location from points displayed on a map into an integrated 5D platform that can deliver the vast amounts of intelligence that can help build smart cities, smart nations, and smart sites. This smart digital reality incorporates real-time situational awareness and predictive analytics that also empowers decision makers in the defense & intelligence, maritime, and aviation communities.
Another highlight from the evening was “Rewind to the 90’s,” the Geospatial track party that was held offsite at the INDUSTRIAL Event Space. Attendees were encouraged to celebrate fashion back in the day by dressing in their best 90’s attire. Did the event live up to all the hype? Ask Jay Pongonis, Hexagon Geospatial Senior Product Marketing Manager, winner of the $100 gift card in the 90’s costume contest!
Day 3 continued with breakout sessions, more hands-on training, and a featured luncheon with Anthony Vinci, Ph.D., the Chief Technology Officer at the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA). During the luncheon, Dr. Vinci discussed how the NGA will to continue add datasets, tools and challenges to GeoWorks, a new collaborative data-sharing platform, and promote greater interaction with agency partners. He also discussed how U.S. organizations can use some of NGA’s unclassified data to build algorithms, participate in hackathons and compete in challenges, all with the goal of solving hard problem sets and identifying transferable tools or techniques.
Attendees wrapped up the day of invaluable training opportunities and meaningful success stories with a trip to the award-winning “Asian City,” TAO Nightclub, for more networking and delicious appetizers and drinks.
Day 4 of HxGN LIVE 2018 was a little bittersweet as we said goodbye to each other. Attendees were able to squeeze in last-minute breakout sessions on their lists, and stop by our technology expo, The Zone, to see and even test out some of what’s new in the information technology industry.
Thank you to everyone that came out and joined us in Las Vegas for HxGN LIVE 2018. Tons of great memories were made and we cannot wait for next year’s conference to commence!
